True story.

I Traveled into the mountains in search for topaz and crystals, a few days ago. As I made my way down the road to my destination, I ran into a man named Anthony. He was trying to use his cell phone.  I slowed down and commented on how hard it is to get out with a cell phone in this area. He said he just called 911 to report a person of youth yelling for help. I got out and  listened for  the youth, I whistled a few times and heard nothing. I got back in my vehicle and parked it off the road. Anthony said I think we are going to be looking for a body the way they screamed help and stopped not to be heard from again.

I decided if that person needed help, I should go  into the area, up by devil's head in Colorado. This should give you a clue to our surroundings. There are high rock formations which make for ruff and rugged country. I went down the trail and up to the base  of the mountain and skirted the mountain trying to find the youth.  Yelling and whistling along the way. As I was crawling on the rocks to get across a rugged path. I thought to my self , I may be the one they are searching for if I'm not real careful, it was dangerous.

I then heard  some one across the ridge asking me if I was ok. I yelled back yes and they headed for their truck. I knew it was search and rescue from their  safety jackets. I had to  yell and whistle to stop them from leaving. Its not me your looking for,"Don't leave". I was in that area for three hours of my life searching. I made it over a ridge  I heard music playing and followed it. Thinking  the person could not respond to my calls, and may be playing their radio to guide me in. I was way above them and I knew the search team was below me. So I decided it would be best to go back the way I came in  and go down to where search and rescue was and travel in that way.

I found the SR team and told them about the music. They had heard it also. We then heard a yell from Anthony from across the ridge. It was a hoax." Hell no I said". I guess 911 called him back and told him they caught three teenagers that  thought it would be funny to pull a prank, a joke. Once again, I traveled into the wilderness and ended up with search and rescue on a prank. The first  time a  medical skeleton and then this wow, unreal. I got some good exercise ot or the deal. I thank god for the men and woman that put their lives on the line to save others. They are a true asset to  humanity. We all must do are part to make sure these people are supported with every thing they must do.

From me to the kids that played this prank. Please understand there are more productive things you  can be doing with your lives. Never cry wolf, It is so important that this point sinks in. You may need help some day I pray it is there for you.

As for me I did what I felt was necessary. Yes I may have lost my day in the wilderness the way I wanted to spend it. But I still got out and experienced the beauty of nature. I hold no anger in my heart for you. I will however ask from you to think  about what you do before you do it,and what may be the consequences of your actions. Have a great life forever. You know you did the right thing. It felt right then and still does. People like us will always find a way to have enough days to spend as we choose. There is a price- you've paid on it now. Well done.
The universe provides youth with a finite amount of forgiveness for stupidity.Once it's gone- stupidity is often a capital offense.

Found a rare earth commodity called fluocerite not too far from you. Platte canyon rd south of confluence you can see an old quarry from the road. Waded across the river so short hike. I want to return trip using colorado trail bridge up to (Little Patsy?) a different old quarry. You can check other sites/minerals out at mindat.org, great site but takes patience. Should make it a link- I couldn't figure how.
