If you decide to wonder into the wilderness. Please be prepared! In this section, I will mention what you should think about taking with you when you travel into the Out Doors. First go get a pack, one you will always have on hand. This will help you survive any natural disaster as well. In your pack you should put nuts, dried fruit, a whistle, a compass, some rope a first aid kit a blanket, enough food to sustain your life for a week or two. Some trail tape,a marker and a pen and a knife. Always let someone that is close to you know where you plan to travel. Even if you have no one, leave a note for some one to find. This may save your life.
Take a snake bite, anti venom kit, water purification tablets, fresh water, candy bars, flash light extra batteries,a stocking cap, this can save your life. Some trail mix, fire starting equipment' lighters.A small tarp for shelter. Go with garmin Gps and Spot they will help with your location. Take some rice some hooks. What ever you can think that may help you survive in the wilderness. Remember you have to pack this around and weight should remain a factor.
If your lost do not panic, sit down and collect your thoughts. Think about what you saw when you entered. It is easy to get confused. If you relax you will find your way out. If you Know it is imposable save your energy. Your prepared You will survive. I made the mistake of leaving my pack on my quad over night, whoops, not only providing the bear with hours of entertainment. He or she had to bite my quad seat, Turkey. Use the rope to lift your food product's, so they are not accessible by animals.Learn from my mistake.
More things to pack hair spray it can be used as a mini flame thrower.Bug spray, needle and thread, beef jerky, air horn, gun if you feel more comfortable,A few caned goods,If you make noise when traveling through the wood you should not come upon any dangerous animals. They on a norm are more afraid of you then the you are of them. If you must take a life, please give them a chance by firing a warning shot.
After all, you are the intruder in their homes. If you know the animal is on the attack and you can not escape its wrath,You need to fight for your life. Some have said playing dead is the best way .You choose. I figure if a animal wants to take me out, I will try to make it go first. As a avid hunter and outdoors man. I believe you should follow the law to the letter. Do this for our future generation and the animal population. The department of wildlife and thier laws are in place for the good of both parties.
Be safe out there folks your decision to wonder into the wilderness is your soul responsibility. We will not be liable for any decision you make . Take a little time and study survival tips before you go. My way is not the only way. Have fun but Remember to always check the weather conditions for the area you wish to descend into, and dress appropriately. You can mark your route with sticks if necessary.I like to take mental notes when I go any where in the woods.
The reason I do this is one time while hunting in the NW, I wondered off the path and over a few hills and gullies. I never thought I could get lost in the woods. From a young man I wondered through the woods with my mother hunting in Colorado. I remember her loosing her ID and I took her right back to where we had traveled that day. We found her wallet, she was amazed because we were all over the woods that day.
The woods in the NW are way different, as I came to find out. I yelled for my friends and no one answered, I started to panic a natural reaction. My heart took off like a race horse when I realized I was lost. I did not have a compass back in those days, but I did have a 3030 winchester. I sat down and collected my thoughts, thank god I did that. I may still be out there today. As I sat there and calmed down, I thought to myself your fine, you have a gun and knife you can survive . Then I started thinking, what did you see when you traveled in here? I noticed a big black tree that I knew I saw when entering. I got up and headed out and found the 12 inch trail I traveled down, by back tracking.
That little trail was so pleasing to my eyes. From that day forward, I use much more caution when I travel into the wilderness. I use a compass and GPS the tree line the water and I take mental notes of objects that stick out. The feeling of being lost is no fun and can turn dangerous if you panic. I know of people that have shed their clothes and died. They panic a natural reaction. Please do not let this happen to you. Sit down and collect your thoughts. Go prepared folks with today's technology your life is worth the investment.Your survival may depend on it. Even if you never go into the woods it's a good idea to have a survival pack on hand in case of an emergency.
